Superintendent’s Welcome
Thank you for your interest in the Lonoke School District!
Lonoke is an ideal place in which to live and raise a family, and we appreciate your interest in our school district. Nowhere is the spirit and vitality of this wonderful community more evident than in our schools.
Our greatest pride and hope for the future rests in our children. Our goal as a community is to focus our many and diverse resources into the best possible educational opportunities for our students. District priorities are:
• To prepare our students to succeed at the highest levels in the world that awaits them
• To use technology and community resources to expand and enhance the classroom; and
• To provide a safe, secure and supportive environment for learning and growing.
An amazing array of exploration and discovery takes place in each of our schools every day, thanks to the talents of our creative and dedicated staff and the input of parents and the community. We are committed to providing the very best learning opportunities for our students. Our teachers have been well trained in the use of the most effective research-based teaching and learning strategies and will employ all means necessary to ensure that all students are challenged and enriched throughout their educational journeys.
Our teachers prepare and implement standards based units of instruction that reflect attention to multiple intelligences, critical thinking and differentiation in instructional approaches. Assessment of student learning occurs on a daily basis and students receive frequent feedback on performance. Learning is experiential, student centered and holistic, and is supported by authentic, collaborative learning activities.
We ask all parents/guardians to support school and district goals and initiatives by becoming active partners with the school and district. Your assistance is needed in several areas, including but not limited to volunteerism in various school and district projects, participation in parent-teacher conferences, participation in classroom activities as a resource, and participation on school and district committees. As a community of learners, we value your input and solicit your involvement in all aspects of our district.
I invite you to visit our schools to explore the many opportunities which the Lonoke School District can provide for your family. If you have any questions, I urge you to call my office, or any of the offices listed on our website. Thanks again for your interest.
Sincerely,
John D. Tackett, EdD.
