Student Organizations
Art Club- Art club is open to anyone who shares a passion for the arts. $5 dues. The Art Club gives back to the community by participating in buying Christmas presents for children in need. The club members produce an annual art show. They also go on field trips to highlight art. The sponsor of this organization is Mrs. Mertsh.
Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) - The purpose of the club is to teach students to learn to live better today in order that their lives and those of their families may be better tomorrow. Dues $15. Anyone who has taken or is currently taking a Family and Consumer Science class can be a member. Previous activities have included Valentine fundraiser, selling cookies, participating in the Lonoke County Fair with a fair booth, volunteer activities, visiting the nursing home, Angel Tree donation, AR Children's Hospital donation, and volunteering at the day care. The club members will attend summer retreats, cluster, district, state, and national meetings. Mrs. Wesley is the sponsor of this organization.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) - Purpose is "to present to athletes and
coaches, and all whom they influence the challenge and adventure of receiving
Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving Him in their relationships and in the
fellowship of the church. Dues $3.00. Although "Athletes" is in the title, it is
the only Christian organization in the school so all students are eligible to
join. Major activities include night meetings in the gym, going to FCA Game Days
at U of A in Fayetteville and UCA Conway, Twisters game, Power Puff Football,
5th Quarters, Field of Faith and See you at the Pole.. Elise Hobson is the
sponsor of this organization.
First State Bank Student Advisory Board- These students were selected by a First
State Bank selection committee. They submitted applications and a short essay.
They meet monthly in the evenings focusing on learning about how to manage money
effectively, using credit wisely, and applying for college financial aid and
available student loans. The Board members sponsored a "Phone Phrenzy" to raise
funds for the Arkansas Children's Hospital. The sponsor of this organization is
Angela McCallie.
Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) - The Mission is to bring business and
education together in a positive working relationship through innovative
leadership and career development programs. Membership is open to 9th through
12th graders who are currently enrolled in or have taken a business course. Dues
are $10. Chapter activities revolve around two areas: community service projects
and business-related programs. Community service examples include: Open Arms
Drive, Merry Thanks Open House, Arkansas Children’s
Hospital, Angel Tree and March of Dimes. Business-related activities include:
Chamber of Commerce Partnership, FBLA district, state, and national conferences,
competitive events, and American Enterprise Project. Angela McCallie, Catherine
Smiddy and Stacy Sajder are the advisers of this organization.
Future Farmers of America (FFA) - Purpose of the club is it to provide members with opportunities for Premier Leadership Personal Growth and Career Success through classroom instruction, participation in Career Development Events, and other leadership and community services activities. Membership is open to students taking Agriculture Education classes the current year or students in Agriculture Education classes the previous year that were members that year. Dues are $ 13.00. Major Activities include: Career Development Events in various areas of Agriculture and Leadership, adopted section of Hwy. 31, Lonoke County Fair, Arkansas State Fair- FFA Barn Yard, FFA State Convention, Toy Building Christmas Project, and FFA National Convention. Amanda Snider is the sponsor of this organization.
L-Town RABS- It is basically a pep club whose purpose is to promote school spirit. Members prepare spirit signs, banners, shirts, and cheers and cheer on the Jackrabbits! That is our Planned activities include a tailgate party, bonfire, painting the rabbit paws around campus, and spirit/memory boxes. L-Town members are required to go to the 5 home football games and 5 home basketball games. The sponsor of this organization is Stacy Sajder.
National Junior Honor Society- The purpose of this organization shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage good citizenship in the students of secondary schools. Members can also purchase t-shirts at the end of the year. Dues are $5. Ellen Hope & Jennifer Powers are the club sponsors.
National Honor Society- The purpose of this organization shall be to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage good citizenship in the students of secondary schools. Dues are $10. These students participate in the ACE program which honors students for academic excellence and scholarships are another benefit of the club. The sponsors of this organization are Mrs. Powers and Mrs. Murtha.
Science Club- Science Club members will explore how science can affect our community and everyday lives. The club will publish a newsletter every nine weeks to make parents aware of what is happening in the science department. Members will choose a public service project, such as recycling, to carry out on LHS campus. Members will also choose other activities to raise funds for a field trip and build an awareness of science. The fee is $5.00 per member. The sponsors of this organization are Danny Wright and Casey Woods.
Spanish Club-Goals are to raise awareness and to celebrate certain events in
the Hispanic community (ex. Dia de los Muertos and Cinco de Mayo) to form conversation groups to better our Spanish
while possibly helping native Spanish speakers to improve their English. These
are opportunities for students to experience the cultural foods, practices, and
traditions. Dues $5. We will
also participate in activities like the Foreign Language Festival where students
will perform and compete against other schools and also will volunteer at primary and elementary schools to read to students in Spanish
and to help ESL students. The sponsors of this organization are Carissa Dell and
Laura Edwards.
Teachers of Tomorrow
(TOT)- We elect a teacher of the month and honor that person with
signs and other recognitions. We also plan to do job shadowing so that students
can see some of the things teachers do each day. We participate in district
conferences, local events such as parades, and educational field trips. The TOT website is
