A registered nurse is available to each building to meet student health needs. Parents can make arrangements for a student consultation through the front offices at each school. First aid supplies are available and school personnel are familiar with the procedures to be followed.
What if my child gets sick or is injured?
Any child who becomes sick or injured at school will be cared for by the teacher, nurse, secretary, or principal. If the child's condition is thought to be serious, parents/guardians will be contacted to come and get their child. In case the immediate attention of a physician is necessary, the child will be taken to a local physician at the Lonoke School Clinic - housed in the Baptist Health Clinic - Lonoke and the parents/guardians will be contacted. Parents are requested to furnish the school with the name of the child's primary care physician (PCP). If no choice is indicated and immediate attention is necessary, the child will be taken to a doctor at the parent's expense.
How do I send my child's medicine to school?
If your child requires medication to be administered during the school day, a parent/guardian will need to bring the child's medicine in a prescription bottle with the most recent prescription. The parent/guardian will fill out paperwork in the nurse's office, then the nurse will count the medication alongside the parent/guardian and it will be entered into the nurse's daily administration record. At the end of the school year, any remaining medication should be retrieved by the parent/guardian within 10 business days. Otherwise, the remaining medication will be destroyed.
