WHAT IS ARKANSAS PUBLIC SCHOOL CHOICE?
The Arkansas Public School Choice program is in place to allow parents to choose the best educational opportunities for their child. This enables any student to attend a school outside of their resident district, subject to restrictions in ARKANSAS PUBLIC SCHOOL CHOICE ACT OF 2015.
Act 1227 of 2013 established the Public School Choice Act of 2013, effective April 16, 2013. The Act was amended in Act 560 of 2015, including the following deadlines:
May 1 - Parents/Guardians apply for school choice for their child by submitting an application to the nonresident district. The nonresident district will then notify the resident district of the filing of the application.
July 1 - The superintendent of the nonresident district will notify the parent and resident district of the status of the school choice application.
December 15 - The ADE reports to each school district the net maximum number of school choice transfers for the next school year.
HOW DO I CHOOSE LONOKE SCHOOLS?
Parents/Guardians can pick up a school choice application at the LPSD Central Office (401 W Holly St., Lonoke) or download and print the SCHOOL CHOICE APPLICATION.
The completed form can be turned in at the LPSD Central Office or emailed to Deneen Knowlton at deneen.knowlton@lonokeschools.org.
If mailed to the Central Office, it must be postmarked by May 1.
