CURRENT COVID-19 NUMBERS

  • Because the number of positive cases has been extremely low during the week of September 19, LPSD will discontinue online updates until we start seeing a significant rise in positive cases again.

The State of Arkansas is encouraging K-12 schools to adhere to the latest CDC guidelines. This means our nurses will no longer do contact tracing within our district. However, we are still tracking the number of positive cases each day. These numbers will be broken down by school so parents can make more informed decisions regarding masks and COVID-19 testing.

If a student or staff member has been exposed to COVID-19, the CDC recommends they wear a mask for 10 days.

If a student or staff member begins to show symptoms after exposure, it is recommended that they test, report their symptoms and positive tests to their school nurse, and stay home for 5 days. Upon return to school, they should continue wearing a mask for 5 days.

All students should report symptoms and positive tests to their school nurse. All district employees should report symptoms and positive tests to Nurse Leah Robinson.

Ultimately, it is the parent’s choice whether they feel their child should wear a mask after potential exposure.
