My name is Lauren Parish, I teach 7th grade math. I graduated in 2014 with a Master's Degree in Education and this will be my sixth year of teaching. I'm very excited to be a part of the Lonoke School District and can't wait to have another awesome school year as a Jackrabbit.
This year in math we will be learning Ratios/Proportions, The Number System, Expressions/Equations, Geometry and Statistics/Probability. I hope to make this year both fun and challenging through hard work and dedication from each of my students. In math class this year we will be focusing on instilling a growth mindset in each student through practicing "Jo Boaler's Positive Norms for Math Class." "The Positive Norms to Encourage in Math Class include: Everyone can learn math to the highest level, mistakes are valuable, questions are really important, math is about creativity and making sense, math is about connections and communicating, math class is about learning not performing, and depth is more important than speed." My students will be practicing these norms on a daily bases, through this I hope to build a more positive outlook on math for my students and help them reach their highest potential through our rigorous curriculum.
If you need to contact me this year please do not hesitate to do so. Please use this website to keep up with activities, task, test, and homework we will be having this school year. Let's make this an awesome year!
