After months of study, Lonoke Middle School students (from left) Harold Coronado, Helen Hurst, Lia Zapata, & Dane Adamson competed in the Quizbowl tournament that took place at the Arkansas Beta Club Convention. Their knowledge, speed & skill won them 4th place out of all Beta Clubs in the State of Arkansas. This is their first year participating and competing at the Beta Club Convention in the state.
The team was proudly led by their sponsors Cathy Flenor (GT Coordinator) and Melissa Edwards (Curriculum Director).
Among their accolades, LMS student Lia Zapata competed in 8th Grade Math and placed 5th in the State of Arkansas!
The National Beta Club promotes ideals of academic achievement, character, service, and leadership among elementary and secondary school students. Since 1991, the organization has awarded more than $6 million in scholarships and has included nearly seven million students (grades 4-12) between Junior and Senior Beta Clubs. There are now more than 445,000 active members and more than 9600 clubs nationally and internationally. It has become the nation's largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization. The National Junior Beta Convention will be held in Louisville, Kentucky June 23-26, 2023.
